All photography classes are five sessions each


Basic Color Photography
Instructor: Hugh Tifft
Emphasizing negative-positive color systems, this course will cover darkroom techniques for basic color printing and processing. Students will learn to produce, evaluate, and correctly balance color prints. They will also study the basics of color theory, such as the Kelvin scale, color and light, and the effects of color on perception.

Digital Studio Lighting

Instructor: Hugh Tifft
This fast-moving class covers advanced camera and shooting techniques to gain professional results from your digital images. For the digital photographer with prior experience, topics include studio lighting, posing, compositional styles, night photography, along with valuable Photoshop techniques and professional printing tips. *Prerequisite: Beginning Digital Photography or equivalent

Studio Portrait Lighting
Instructor: Steve Shaner
Use the studio to create portraits and still-life photographs with professionalism. Learn to work with various lighting systems and studio techniques such as soft and hard lighting flags, nets, silk scrims, umbrellas, soft boxes, and diffuser panels. Students will learn to set up lights and backdrops, to position the model, and use traditional lighting arrangements such as high side lighting, frontal lighting, and back lighting. This course will provide valuable tips for analyzing light quality, selecting the proper size lights and distances, placing light modifiers, and selecting and using light metters.

Basic Black & White Photography

Instructor: Dan Michaels
Learn the rewarding art of black-and-white photography. Students learn to use a 35mm camera, develop black-and-white film, and make black-and-white prints from negatives. Students who complete this class are prepared to use Community Darkrooms' facilities independently.
