Beginning Digital Photography
Instructor: Dan Michaels
Using practical camera-based exercises, this course gives beginning level digital SLR camera owners an overview of equipment knowledge, creative project ideas, and tips to improve compositional and technical skills. Students gain a better understanding of their cameras, and an increased vision of exciting possibilities.

Photoshop I

Instructor: James Suits
Adobe Photoshop is the unrivaled standard in digital photography. In five weekly sessions, students gain a foundation for the basics of digital imaging. Using film, prints, or digital files, students are taught how to adjust for best digital output. The course covers Photoshop basic tools, palettes, and techniques to correct and enhance your photographs.

Photoshop II*

Instructor: James Suits
Learn to create convincing special effects, composite photographs, and photo collages. The course will cover contrast controls and color correction, selection refinements, burning and dodging, blurring and sharpening, and sponging and smudging. Students will learn to use patterns and drop shadows, as well as ghosting and layering principles. *Prerequisite: Photoshop I or equivalent

InDesign

Adobe InDesign is one of the most versatile layout programs for Macintosh or PC. By working hands-on, you will learn the basic capabilities of the program. InDesign's tools allow you to lay out brochures, ads, books, posters, and more. *Prerequisite: Photoshop I or equivalent

Web Design I
Instructor: Sarah Howell
Want to create a website but are uncertain how to begin? This course offers the basic principles of Web design, development, and publishing using a combination of Adobe Photoshop, Image Ready, and Dreamweaver software. Students will explore successful website design through topics such as color, layout, resolution, and accessibility. *Prerequisite: Photoshop I or equivalent

Web Design II
Instructor: Sarah Howell
Students learn advanced web design principles such as navigation strategies, style sheets, forms, animation, imported media, and search engine optimization using numerous applications. Web Design II is recommended for intermediate users--comfortable with basic web design techniques--ready to plan, produce, and publish a custom website that will get noticed. *Prerequisite: Web Design I or equivalent

Photoshop II
Instructor: James Suits
Students will complete projects during class and review their photos on computers at
Community Darkrooms. Photographer Wendy Cross will lead students in portraiture,
landscapre, and photojournalism exercises. Students will sharpen their personal vision
by learning about lighting and compositional techniques. *Digital camera required.
